Petras’ business story would merit a separate book. After trying numerous different activities and businesses, now he manages two: production and sales of litter for birds and cattle in the Ukraine, and exports of firewood from Belarus to Germany and Belgium. Although the businesses underwent transformation as a result of changes in international markets, Petras assures that he has overcome all difficulties by his patience and aggressive striving for a purpose. In 2002, when Petras turned fifty-two, he had production facilities built and started producing disposable wooden pallets for different goods to be exported to Germany. In the same year, he founded an affiliate for cargo transportation. The same trucks that delivered pallets to Germany, later carried food products for sales in Russia. These operations continued until 2014, when Petras decided to reorient his business and engage in the production of firewood. Seeing that operating costs were lower in Belarus, he decided to move his business there. After finding partners through recommendations, Petras purchased all the necessary equipment for firewood production and delivered it to Belarus to be operated there.
In 2017, Petras turned sixty-eight and decided to start producing litter for cattle: rape and wheat steams are dried and then made into pellets.
